Making disciples means intentionally helping people respond to the gospel, learn Jesus’ teaching, practice obedience, belong to His people, mature in character, and become able to help others follow Him.

Key Scriptures

More than a class
Curriculum serves discipleship, but information alone does not make a disciple. Jesus combines truth, presence, practice, correction, mission, and imitation.
People need someone who can answer questions, observe growth, pray, encourage obedience, and model life with God.
A reproducible relationship
Paul names four generations of transmission in 2 Timothy 2. Healthy discipleship expects the learner eventually to help another.
A small church can disciple effectively through pastoral access, table fellowship, Grow courses, ministry teams, and simple one-to-one relationships.
Baptize and teach obedience
The Great Commission includes gospel response and lifelong formation. We do not lower the call to gain quick decisions.
Discipleship remains centered on Jesus and empowered by His promised presence, not the mentor’s personality.
Grace Revealed
Grace brings truth into life.
Jesus comes near, calls ordinary people, shares His life, and promises to remain with those making disciples.
Knowing Him
Every truth leads toward God.
Disciples learn by being with Jesus and with people who embody His way. Relationship carries truth into practice.
Why this matters for salvation
God’s teaching serves His saving purpose.
The gospel aims at obedient disciples among all peoples. Disciple-making helps converts persevere, mature, and multiply the saving message.

- What simple rhythm could be reproduced?
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of making disciples. Walk intentionally with someone, teach Scripture, model obedience, invite practice, and help them disciple another. Let Your grace form me, draw me nearer to You, and make my life useful in Your saving purpose. Amen.
