Lesson 04 of 13

Biblical Fellowship

Shared life deeper than friendly conversation

A subject-specific welcome from

Pastor Travis

This lesson matters because biblical fellowship is Spirit-created participation in Christ expressed through presence, truth, prayer, meals, generosity, burden-bearing, accountability, and mission. My prayer is that you receive this truth as grace, respond in obedience, and allow it to deepen both your relationship with God and your participation in His purpose. — Pastor Travis Morgan

The big idea

Biblical fellowship is Spirit-created participation in Christ expressed through presence, truth, prayer, meals, generosity, burden-bearing, accountability, and mission.

Read the Word

Key Scriptures

1 John 1:1–7

grounds fellowship with one another in fellowship with God.

Acts 2:42–47

shows doctrine, meals, prayer, generosity, and joy.

Hebrews 10:19–25

commands believers to gather and provoke one another toward love.

Galatians 6:1–10

calls believers to restoration and burden-bearing.

Romans 12:9–21

describes sincere love in practical community life.

01

Participation in Christ

Koinonia means sharing or participation, not merely social familiarity. Believers share Christ, the Spirit, truth, resources, suffering, and mission.

Fellowship cannot remain superficial if people are to be known, corrected, encouraged, and supported.

02

Practices that make room

Meals, prayer, testimony, generosity, small gatherings, service, and honest conversation turn goodwill into shared life.

A growing small church should preserve relational access while establishing simple, repeatable ways for newcomers to connect.

03

Truthful and safe community

Fellowship carries burdens and restores gently. It also respects confidentiality, boundaries, and appropriate pastoral care.

Unity does not require pretending. Walking in the light makes grace and repair possible.

Grace Revealed

Grace brings truth into life.

Christ brings strangers near and makes them family; fellowship is received before it is practiced.

Knowing Him

Every truth leads toward God.

Shared life with believers is participation in the life Christ gives His body.

Why this matters for salvation

God’s teaching serves His saving purpose.

Fellowship protects against isolation, strengthens endurance, restores the wandering, and makes the gospel visible.

Lesson notes

Remember these truths.

  • Fellowship is participation.
  • Gathering includes mutual encouragement.
  • Meals and prayer create relational space.
  • Truth belongs with love.
  • Healthy fellowship respects boundaries.

Respond to the Word

Reflect and apply.

  1. Who truly knows your spiritual life?
  2. Whose burden can you help carry?
  3. How can Destiny welcome newcomers simply?
  4. Where do you need honest conversation?
  5. What regular gathering will you commit to?
Pray the truth

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of biblical fellowship. Move beyond attendance by becoming known, sharing life, carrying burdens, and welcoming others. Let Your grace form me, draw me nearer to You, and make my life useful in Your saving purpose. Amen.
