Lesson 12 of 13

Evangelism

Making the good news known with clarity and compassion

A subject-specific welcome from

Pastor Travis

This lesson matters because evangelism is Spirit-empowered communication and demonstration of the good news of Jesus Christ that invites people to believe, repent, be baptized in Jesus’ name, receive the Holy Spirit, and begin following Him. My prayer is that you receive this truth as grace, respond in obedience, and allow it to deepen both your relationship with God and your participation in His purpose. — Pastor Travis Morgan

The big idea

Evangelism is Spirit-empowered communication and demonstration of the good news of Jesus Christ that invites people to believe, repent, be baptized in Jesus’ name, receive the Holy Spirit, and begin following Him.

Read the Word

Key Scriptures

Acts 1:4–8

promises Spirit power for witness.

Acts 2:14–41

models Christ-centered proclamation and apostolic response.

Acts 8:26–40

shows personal evangelism beginning from Scripture and a person’s question.

2 Corinthians 5:14–21

calls reconciled people ambassadors of reconciliation.

1 Peter 3:13–17

commands a ready answer given with gentleness and respect.

01

The gospel is the message

Evangelism is not advertising church or winning arguments. It announces Jesus—His identity, death, resurrection, lordship, saving name, and call to response.

Clarity matters. We should be able to share testimony and Scripture without manipulation or unnecessary religious language.

02

Spirit-empowered and person-aware

The Spirit opens doors, gives courage, convicts, and may confirm the Word through gifts. Philip listens both to the Spirit and the Ethiopian’s actual question.

Love listens. Gentleness does not weaken truth; it reflects the Savior being proclaimed.

03

A simple church-wide practice

Destiny does not need a large campaign to begin. Pray for names, build genuine relationships, share meals, serve locally, invite people, offer Bible studies, and follow up personally.

Every believer witnesses; some carry a particular evangelistic gift that equips the rest.

Grace Revealed

Grace brings truth into life.

God reconciles enemies and then entrusts them with a message they did not create. The Spirit supplies courage and opens hearts.

Knowing Him

Every truth leads toward God.

Evangelism grows from knowing Jesus and wanting others to meet the One who has become precious to us.

Why this matters for salvation

God’s teaching serves His saving purpose.

People must hear the gospel to believe and respond. Evangelism carries God’s saving invitation into actual relationships and communities.

Lesson notes

Remember these truths.

  • Jesus is the gospel’s center.
  • The Spirit empowers witness.
  • Clarity and gentleness belong together.
  • Every believer can witness.
  • Follow-up leads toward discipleship.

Respond to the Word

Reflect and apply.

  1. Who are three people you will pray for?
  2. Can you explain the gospel simply?
  3. What is your testimony?
  4. Where is a natural invitation possible?
  5. How can Destiny serve Royal Palm Beach relationally?
Pray the truth

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of evangelism. Pray for people by name, listen well, share Jesus clearly, invite response, and remain present for discipleship. Let Your grace form me, draw me nearer to You, and make my life useful in Your saving purpose. Amen.
