God formed Israel through exodus and covenant to be His holy, priestly people, reveal His character among the nations, carry the promises, and prepare the way for Messiah and new-covenant restoration.

Redeemed before commanded
God hears bondage, remembers covenant, reveals His name, defeats oppressive powers, and brings Israel out before giving Sinai instruction.
Law is covenant formation for an already redeemed people, not a ladder by which slaves purchase rescue.
Priestly vocation and failure
Israel is called to display holiness, justice, worship, wisdom, and God’s presence for the nations. Idolatry and injustice contradict that vocation.
Kingship and temple bring glory and danger; persistent unfaithfulness leads to divided kingdom and exile.
Prophetic hope
The prophets announce judgment and promise: return, Davidic King, new exodus, new heart, Spirit, forgiveness, and worldwide knowledge of God.
Jesus enters and fulfills Israel’s story, gathering a renewed people around Himself.
Grace Revealed
Grace brings truth into life.
God remains faithful to His name and promise despite repeated human rebellion, providing cleansing and Spirit where external command proved insufficient.
Knowing Him
Every truth leads toward God.
Israel’s story reveals God as Deliverer, covenant Lord, holy King, patient Judge, and restoring Shepherd.
Why this matters for salvation
God’s teaching serves His saving purpose.
The gospel fulfills Israel’s promises through Messiah, extending covenant blessing and Spirit-given restoration to the nations.
