Lesson 02 of 11

Calling & Purpose

#Iknowmycalling - hearing, discerning, and walking in God’s purpose

A subject-specific welcome from

Pastor Travis

This lesson matters because god’s primary call is to belong to Jesus and become like Him; within that shared calling He gives particular assignments, burdens, relationships, work, and ministry through which each person serves His kingdom. My prayer is that you receive this truth as grace, respond in obedience, and allow it to deepen both your relationship with God and your participation in His purpose. — Pastor Travis Morgan

01

Called first to Christ

Calling begins with the Caller. Before role, platform, career, or title, we are called from darkness, into fellowship, holiness, community, and likeness to Jesus.

This shared call anchors identity when assignments change. Losing a position does not mean losing purpose.

02

Discerning particular assignment

God guides through Scripture, Spirit-given burden, prayer, gifts, providence, need, wise counsel, community confirmation, and fruit. No single feeling should carry the entire weight.

Calling may unfold in stages. Faithfulness in present responsibilities prepares capacity for what comes next.

03

#Iknowmycalling

Pastor Travis carries a particular kingdom passion to help people discover, name, develop, and walk in their God-given call. #Iknowmycalling expresses humble clarity, not self-promotion.

Knowing your calling means knowing whom you belong to, what obedience is present now, who your assignment serves, and how your life participates in God’s larger mission.

Grace Revealed

Grace brings truth into life.

We are saved by grace and then invited into good works God prepared. Calling is gift and stewardship, not a way to earn worth.

Knowing Him

Every truth leads toward God.

The deepest security of calling is knowing the Caller. Intimacy keeps assignment from becoming identity or ambition.

Why this matters for salvation

God’s teaching serves His saving purpose.

God calls people into Christ and then sends them within His saving mission. Particular purpose serves discipleship, witness, mercy, justice, and the building of His church.

Lesson notes

Remember these truths.

  • Calling begins with Jesus.
  • Identity is deeper than assignment.
  • Discernment uses several witnesses.
  • Faithfulness precedes expansion.
  • #Iknowmycalling is clarity under surrender.

Respond to the Word

Reflect and apply.

  1. What is every believer called to?
  2. What burden and fruit keep appearing?
  3. Who confirms your growth?
  4. What is the next faithful step?
  5. Can you state your present calling humbly?
Pray the truth

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of calling & purpose. Seek the Caller, name the present assignment, receive confirmation, prepare diligently, and take the next faithful step: #Iknowmycalling. Let Your grace form me, draw me nearer to You, and make my life useful in Your saving purpose. Amen.
