Lesson 08 of 10Living before Him, welcoming His manifest work, and becoming His dwelling
God is everywhere, yet Scripture also describes moments when His presence is experienced and manifested in particular ways. We must value both truths: live every day before the God who is always present, and remain hungry for His tangible work among His people. — Pastor Travis Morgan

The omnipresent God makes His covenant presence known through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, forming believers and the gathered church as His dwelling and sometimes manifesting His nearness in perceptible ways.
Read the Word
celebrates God’s inescapable presence and knowledge.
shows Moses valuing God’s presence above mere progress.
reveals God dwelling among humanity in Jesus.
identifies the church as God’s Spirit-indwelt temple.
describes believers being built into God’s dwelling.
God is omnipresent: no place escapes His knowledge and rule. This gives comfort and holy accountability. We do not invite an absent God into existence; we awaken to the One before whom we already live.
Scripture also records manifest presence—God making His nearness and activity perceptible through glory, conviction, healing, joy, awe, silence, power, or unusual awareness. Experience must be welcomed without becoming the measure of truth.
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us. Through the Spirit, God now dwells in believers and forms the church collectively as His temple.
We must not reduce presence to an atmosphere in a room. The Spirit’s indwelling should produce holy character, unity, love, gifts, mission, and reverence for God’s people.
Moses refuses to move without God’s presence. Success without Him is failure. Churches can gain activity, crowds, and excellence while losing attentive dependence.
We cultivate awareness through worship, Scripture, prayer, repentance, stillness, communion, and obedience. We cannot manufacture God, but we can remove distractions and respond when He draws near.
Grace Revealed
The holy God comes near to sinners through Jesus, then gives the Spirit to dwell within redeemed people. Presence is undeserved gift before it becomes cultivated awareness.
Knowing Him
Intimacy learns to enjoy God in ordinary faithfulness as well as powerful moments. Seek His face, not sensations; receive manifestations with gratitude, but let His character remain the treasure.
Why this matters for salvation
Salvation is movement into God’s presence: reconciled now, indwelt by the Spirit, gathered as His temple, and headed toward the day when God dwells openly with humanity in new creation.
Lesson notes
Respond to the Word
God with us, make me aware of Your nearness. Let Your indwelling Spirit form holiness, love, and mission. Keep me from chasing sensations while neglecting You, and make Your presence our greatest treasure. Amen.
