Sin rejects God’s loving rule, while temptation entices desire toward disobedience; believers resist through union with Christ, Scripture, the Spirit, wise boundaries, community, and prompt repentance.

Understand the pattern
Temptation is not itself identical to sin. Desire is enticed, imagination agrees, and the will acts. Learn your triggers, rationalizations, environments, and the moment when escape is still clear.
Sin is deeper than broken rules; it is distrust and revolt against God’s wise love. It promises life apart from Him but produces bondage and death.
Resist from a new identity
Romans 6 does not tell believers to defeat sin to earn union with Christ. It tells those united with Him to reckon themselves dead to sin and present themselves to God. Identity fuels resistance.
Use Scripture in context, pray early, flee when necessary, remove access, invite accountability, and replace sinful patterns with righteous action. Do not negotiate with what God has exposed.
Confess, receive, and rebuild
When you fall, come into the light quickly. Confession agrees with God without excuse; repentance turns; restitution repairs where possible. Christ advocates for His people, and His blood cleanses.
Grace is not permission to repeat harm. It restores relationship and empowers new boundaries, deeper healing, and patient formation. Serious patterns may require pastoral and professional help.
Grace Revealed
Grace forms what it first receives.
God is faithful in temptation, provides escape, forgives confessed sin, and joins us to Christ’s victory. Grace removes both boasting and hopelessness.
Knowing Him
We become like the One we behold.
Every temptation presents a distorted picture of God. Resistance becomes intimacy when we trust that His presence and promise are better than the counterfeit.
Why this matters for salvation
Salvation transforms the whole person.
Sin leads toward death and separation. Christ saves from guilt and mastery, and His preserving grace trains believers to resist, confess, return, and continue in holiness.
