Lesson 04 of 12Belonging wholly to the God who is holy
Holiness is not a costume, a competition, or an attempt to earn salvation. God is holy, He has made us His own, and His saving grace teaches us to live as a people set apart for Him. We will hold inward transformation and outward obedience together. — Pastor Travis Morgan

Holiness is God’s own purity and otherness reflected in a people He has set apart, who respond to saving grace through Spirit-empowered obedience in heart, body, relationships, speech, and conduct.
Read the Word
calls redeemed people to holiness because God is holy.
shows saving grace teaching godly living.
commands the pursuit of holiness and vigilant community care.
calls God’s temple people to cleansing and consecration.
presents the body as a holy living sacrifice.
God’s holiness names His incomparable majesty, moral purity, and absolute devotion to His own good character. Our holiness is responsive and derived: He calls and sets apart a people to belong to Him.
Holiness is relational before it is merely regulatory. Because we are His, every area comes under His loving rule.
Titus refuses the false choice between grace and holiness. The grace that brings salvation trains us to deny ungodliness and live soberly, righteously, and godly while awaiting Jesus.
The Spirit changes inward desires and outward conduct. Scripture addresses thoughts, motives, clothing, sexuality, money, speech, entertainment, power, and relationships. We seek biblical conviction without pride or man-made control.
Hebrews commands a community to pursue holiness and watch against roots of bitterness. We need teaching, examples, correction, confession, and encouragement.
Growth is progressive, but grace never makes peace with sin. When conviction comes, respond with faith rather than comparison or shame.
Grace Revealed
God first redeems and claims a people, then teaches them how to live as His own. Grace forgives, sets apart, supplies the Spirit, and patiently forms obedience.
Knowing Him
Holiness protects communion. We turn from what grieves God not to purchase His presence, but because His presence has become precious.
Why this matters for salvation
God saves from sin, not merely from penalty. Holiness is the lived direction of salvation, evidence of belonging, preparation to see the Lord, and witness to His transforming power.
Lesson notes
Respond to the Word
Holy God, thank You for making me Your own. Cleanse my heart, order my desires, and teach my whole life to reflect You. Keep me from legalism and compromise, and make holiness the joyful fruit of Your presence. Amen.
