The renewed mind rejects patterns opposed to God, receives the truth revealed in Christ, and learns to discern and choose God’s will through Spirit-enabled practice.

Recognize the old pattern
The world’s pattern includes stories about success, identity, sexuality, money, power, revenge, and self-rule that oppose God. Our minds also carry learned responses from family, pain, sin, and fear. Renewal begins with honest recognition.
Not every thought deserves agreement. A thought may be intrusive, tempting, exaggerated, or false. Bring it into the light and test it by Scripture and the character of Christ.
Replace lies with revealed truth
Biblical renewal is more than trying not to think negatively. We put off falsehood and put on truth: who God is, what Christ has done, who we are in Him, and how redeemed people live.
Meditation means sustained, prayerful attention. Repeat truth, write it, pray it, speak it, and practice it until obedience forms a new pathway.
Discern and practice God’s will
A renewed mind becomes able to approve what pleases God. Discernment matures through Scripture, prayer, wise community, repentance, and repeated decisions.
Guard inputs without withdrawing from mission. What repeatedly receives attention shapes desire. Fill the imagination with Christ’s Word and choose environments that reinforce truth.
Grace Revealed
Grace forms what it first receives.
Renewal is not self-rescue. God gives a new identity and supplies truth, Spirit, and community. Grace meets distorted thinking without shame and patiently teaches a new way.
Knowing Him
We become like the One we behold.
The mind is renewed as we behold Christ. Truth becomes relational when we ask, “Jesus, what are You showing me about Yourself, and how would You have me think here?”
Why this matters for salvation
Salvation transforms the whole person.
Deception feeds sin and drift; truth sanctifies and preserves. Renewed thinking helps believers resist conformity, discern God’s will, and live out the salvation already received.

Lord Jesus, expose every lie I have believed. Renew my mind through Your Word and Spirit. Teach me to set my attention on what is true, submit every thought to You, and discern Your good will. Amen.
